Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Services

Arbour, Arbour-Fuller, Arbour-HRI, Pembroke, and Westwood Lodge hospitals offer inpatient psychiatric services for adults.  The adult inpatient psychiatric services provide short-term admission for intensive diagnostic evaluation and treatment to stabilize individuals in crisis.  While hospitalized, patients will work with a multidisciplinary team headed by a psychiatrist, who will design and implement an individualized treatment plan, including 24-hour nursing care, state-of-the-art psychopharmacological interventions and a full range of psychosocial interventions.  Treatment may involve psychological and behavioral components, medication management, family education and participation in group therapy.  Involvement of the family and outside treaters is a crucial part of the treatment process.  Internists and neurologists are available on a consulting basis should problems arise during an inpatient stay.

Discharge planning meetings are held with family and other support persons to allow patients to move as quickly as possible to another level of care or other appropriate aftercare program.

For assistance or admission options twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, please call the ACCES Center at (800) 22-ACCES (222-2237).  Your call will be answered by an intake coordinator who will ask you a few questions in order to determine what is most appropriate for your circumstances.
