Choate Emergency Services staff provide mobile and on-site crisis evaluations including in the Lowell General Hospital and Saints Memorial Hospital Emergency Rooms. They also have five crisis stabilization beds and four Respite beds for DMH clients. Choate provides 3,200 level of care evaluations per year.

The ESP has been offering crisis evaluation and stabilization bed services as part of a contract with the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership for many years. While most of their clients are MassHealth, Choate also serves other commercial and Medicare patients who present in the area ERs.
