Crisis Stabilization - Massachusetts - Arbour Health System

Crisis Evaluation

Arbour Health System has 24-hour crisis evaluation services, offering emergency mental health and substance abuse triage and assessments, intervention, and stabilization for children, adolescents and adults.  The service provides face-to-face emergency assessment for children, adolescents, and adults who are in crisis due to psychiatric, dual diagnosis, or substance abuse problems.  Clinical interventions include:  psychiatric evaluation, psychopharmacology, family evaluation, support systems evaluation, short-term crisis treatment and, if indicated, follow-up visits.  Once crisis evaluation and stabilization is complete, patients may be referred to inpatient, partial hospitalization, or outpatient services within Arbour Health System or at other facilities.

Arbour Hospital’s distinct Intensive Inpatient Observation Service (IIOBS) includes evaluation beds used as an alternative to inpatient treatment for up to 72 hours, for certain insurance companies.  This program provides highly aggressive intervention with follow-up diversionary placement upon stabilization.
