Dual Diagnosis Services

Arbour, Arbour-Fuller, Arbour-HRI, Pembroke, and Westwood Lodge Hospitals' Dual Diagnosis Services offer a managed continuum of care designed to provide a comprehensive system of treatment and recovery from co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders. Each aspect of this continuum is designed to prepare the individual to make the best use of the next appropriate step in his or her recovery/treatment program. Co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders are treated simultaneously with a clear recognition that stabilization/arresting of the addiction is the most immediate concern upon the patient’s entering treatment. Staff are dedicated to providing a thorough evaluation and a direct and focused treatment plan. The patient’s connection to recovery supports, whether related to addiction or other mental health issues, is firmly engaged during treatment. Recovery is a process of ongoing change that is fueled by hope, willingness, and connection to sober, healthy relationships.

All Arbour Health System inpatient dual diagnosis treatment protocols include the use of Subutex, a medication that works to reduce the effects of opioid dependence and prevents withdrawal symptoms, for patients detoxifying from opioid addictions. Arbour Counseling Services in Allston and Rockland offers a Suboxone maintenance program.

Dual Diagnosis Services program components include:  crisis stabilization, inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, outpatient services, on-site programs including AA and Al-Anon, and community linkages including sober housing.
