Geropsychiatry Services - Arbour Health System

Geropsychiatry Services

Arbour Health System offers a full continuum of mental health services to older adults, whether in the hospital, in the community, or in extended care facilities.

Inpatient Treatment

Our inpatient programs offer rapid assessment and focused intervention in a short-term inpatient setting.  Patients who can benefit are those with major mental illness, dementia, or acute changes in behavior or cognition that require evaluation and/or stabilization.  Our multidisciplinary team provides the clinical expertise to ensure that assessment, treatment, and discharge planning objectives are uniformly achieved.  Arbour Health System offers inpatient geropsychiatry programs at Pembroke Hospital.

Partial Hospitalization Programs

Our partial hospitalization programs provide a level of mental health care for older adults who are in need of treatment interventions but do not require 24-hour, continuous inpatient care.  The program offers multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment, a highly structured milieu, and coordination of continuing care needs.  Our experience has shown that older adults can make significant treatment gains in this structured program.  Arbour Health System offers geropsychiatry partial hospitalization programs at Arbour Counseling Services sites in Haverhill and Rockland.

Outpatient Services

Arbour Health System offers outpatient geropsychiatry services through Arbour Counseling Services, with eleven locations throughout eastern Massachusetts.  A highly skilled and experienced multidisciplinary staff provides the essential evaluation and treatment needed to maintain older adults within their communities and homes.
