In September, 2009, Arbour Counseling Services, Jamaica Plain will relocate to 555 Amory Street in Jamaica Plain. CEO Joe Murphy had been looking for a new site for the counseling center for over a year and found it in the business park located less than a mile from the main Arbour campus.

“I looked at our current site and saw some things had to change,” noted Murphy. “We were out of space and out of parking. This new site will help us increase the quality of our service to the patients.”

All outpatient services and clinicians, including new Director of Outpatient Services Brian Murphy will be housed at the new site. The partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) will also move to the same complex in the future. The three PHPs that may relocate include adult psychiatry, dual diagnosis and Latino.

“The layout is 100 percent better,” said Joe Murphy. “It is handicap accessible, and there is a buzz-in system to admit patients to the office. The building is newer and features larger waiting areas, group rooms and offices, and the new suite is more therapeutic overall – from the paint on the walls to the lighting and size of the rooms.”

With the move, the telephone number will remain the same at 617-390-1485. The new location continues to be accessible by public transportation and will be adjacent to the Orange Line, Green Street Station. The new space will allow for other program development in the future including outpatient Suboxone maintenance and psychotherapy groups.
