JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. – Two new staff members recently joined Arbour Hospital’s Latino Partial Hospitalization Program (LPHP), located at 500 Amory St. in Jamaica Plain.

Dr. Anmir Agresar is the new psychiatrist and Jamie Francisco Matorras (Francisco) is the new mental health clinician for the short-term treatment program for Latino adults with psychiatric or co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders.

Dr. Agresar received her medical degree at Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico and recently completed her residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She started at Arbour’s LPHP last month and is thrilled to be working with the Latino community. “I really wanted to work with this population and provide the care they need because I understand the culture and know that often they are not very well understood,” she explained.

Mr. Matorras joined Arbour’s LPHP in July and received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology from the Universidad of Buenos Aires in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has an extensive network within the Latino community and a wealth of clinical experience, most recently working for the Latin American Health Institute in Boston as an adult, youth and family clinician providing counseling services to those with mental health and substance abuse conditions.

“I am excited for the opportunity to help Latino adults in crisis and to continue to promote and grow the Latino Partial Hospitalization Program within the community,” Matorras said.

The LPHP includes Psychotherapy, psychoeducational, cognitive behavioral, arts/mind-body oriented group therapy and medication management, which are all conducted in Spanish. In addition to Dr. Agresar and Mr. Matorras, on-site staff includes a second mental health clinician and an arts and expressive therapist. The entire team is bilingual and addresses patient’s psychiatric problems, taking into account cultural and social differences.

The program runs from 9:30a.m. – 3p.m. Monday through Friday.
