AHS Patients Say Thank You

From Arbour Hospital:

• “I would like all the staff to be congratulated for their hard work. I have seen things here that I as an adult probably wouldn’t be able to handle, but staff had a great amount of patience. Thank you for having me.”

From Arbour-Fuller Hospital:

• “Sorry to be a little slow in saying thank you for the wonderful work you did with our son over his 33 days at Arbour-Fuller. He is continuing to make progress, is working hard with the new ‘tools’ you gave him, and has some good successes since returning. You’ll be happy to know that he was able to participate in the Special Olympics tournament in Worcester, staying overnight with his team and having FUN with his friends. This was HUGE!!! Our son speaks very fondly of Arbour-Fuller, recalling funny things and warm connections he felt with you. It was hard, but it was good. As a parent, I cannot tell you how much we appreciate the very hard work you do to help him and all of us who love him live a better life. You have our deepest admiration for all you do, and sincerest thanks on behalf of our son and the many people you care for.”

 • “I am writing this letter in recognition of my case worker in the Arbour-Fuller Partial Hospitalization and IOP Programs. Her role as a case worker has been a very positive influence for me during this time. Her knowledge, professionalism, and qualities as a case worker have had a significant impact on my continuing to reach the goals I have set for myself. In appreciation for her positive influence as a role model I feel compelled to say that she is definitely an asset to the Arbour-Fuller Partial Hospitalization and IOP Programs.”

From Lowell Treatment Center:

• “... Joining this group helped me a lot, talking about my problems with other people that are going through a tough time as well is a great coping skill. It really showed me that I’m not the only one out there having problems ... For once in my life, I feel like I have my life in my hands and I make the decisions for myself ... I think the staff helped me learn a lot of these coping skills ... I came here because I know I need help and I’m so grateful that the staff and my group members are here to help me through this rough time ... I now realize that all the staff are really committed to helping us out. Everyone has been so nice to me during this time and I think that’s what I was missing to really start dealing and trying to rid of my problems ... And I’m glad I came here because who knows if I went somewhere else I wouldn’t have been this comfortable with dealing with my problems and talking to everyone ... When I discharge from here, I want all the staff that I’ve dealt with to know that I appreciate everything that they’ve done for me

... You’ve all be so caring, respectful, and nice to me and I haven’t had that feeling a lot in my life.” (Adolescent PHP)

From Pembroke Hospital:

• “I want to thank two members of the second shift on East 2. One stands by the rules and explains everything withrespect during conflict. She is someone that I could put my trust into 100 percent and I have trust issues as it is. She is someone that is caring towards all staff and patients at all times and is still able to laugh with them too ... The other certainly is in the right field. He has respect for everyone. He is easy to trust and is and has been a big support in my treatment.”

• “I am very grateful to the medical director and nurse manager for their great care of me. They spent a lot of time with me every day and were extremely patient with me. I will always be grateful to them for the way they treated me and helped the other patients understand me ... They helped me recover from thoughts of suicide and helped me regain my lost self-esteem, self-worth ... I particularly enjoyed art therapy, aroma therapy, yoga and guided imagery ... These groups were very helpful to me. They helped me get connected to life. They helped me deal with my fears caused by hurts I had in my father’s hands.”

From Westwood Lodge:

• “I am writing to express my gratitude for all the staff at Hillside House ... Not only did I make great friends while there, but I found all the counselors to be OUTSTANDING. What I most appreciated and how Hillside House differed from other programs is that the staff catered the groups to our particular groups’ needs. They asked us for suggestions in the morning for what would be beneficial to us and they listened and planned the day around our suggestions. This was new for me. Being at Hillside House was a huge milestone for me because it allowed me to openly talk and learn about my dual diagnosis in a supportive environment ... Although I still have a long way to go before I get back on my feet, I will forever be grateful for the treatment that I received at Hillside House.”
