Arbour-Fuller Hospital Opens
Women’s Partial Hospitalization Program
Arbour-Fuller Hospital has opened a women’s partial
hospitalization (PHP) to serve clients 18 and older who exhibit
post-traumatic stress disorder, including victims of sexual and domestic
violence; depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder; dissociative
disorder; borderline personality disorder; self-injurious behaviors and
co-morbid addictive behaviors.
Patients in the Women’s PHP are encouraged to acknowledge and understand
the impact of painful traumatic events in their lives and the recovery
process. The WPHP’s treatment model integrates cognitive behavioral
therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and phase-oriented trauma
treatment. Patients are encouraged to gain control over symptoms and
learn skills for safety and emotional regulation.
To that end, patients use strength-based psychoeducation, psychotherapy
groups and DBT skills to address interpersonal effectiveness, emotional
regulation and distress tolerance.
Arbour-Fuller Hospital meets clients’ needs in three different ways. The
women’s PHP is a full-day program to prevent inpatient hospitalization
or facilitate transition from hospital to community. The Intensive
Outpatient Program (IOP) within the WPHP is a step-down from the PHP or
serves as an increase in services when outpatient treatment is not
sufficient. Finally, patients are referred to outpatient therapists with
specialties in trauma, and substance abuse if needed, and have the
option to consult with outpatient treatment teams.
The program operates Monday through Friday with optional weekend
sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The WPHP welcomes referrals for
partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment. Most health
insurance plans are accepted. For more information, referring clinicians
may call the program at 508-838-2316 or contact the PHP director at
508-838-2316.
