AHS Patients Say Thank You From Arbour-Fuller Hospital: • “I wanted to send a note along to say thank you for making my stay at Arbour-Fuller as comfortable as possible. Being in a psychiatric hospital can be a fearful experience, but all of the staff made me feel safe. And if I had any concerns or problems you all made sure they were addressed and taken care of. Working on the Dual Diagnosis may be difficult at times, but all of you showed patience and fairness when dealing with the patients. I wanted to say a special thank you to the staff on my unit for their compassion and conversation. (Also, to anyone of the patients who were on the unit with me, thanks for your friendship and encouragement. Keep your chin up and remember ‘that night is always darkest before the dawn.’” • “I am writing to inform you of the wonderful care my son received recently while at your hospital. As a result of some unusual circumstances, he was an inpatient at your hospital for approximately four months. During that time our son’s social worker was truly wonderful. The communication between him and myself was excellent; he would inform me on my son’s progress and was very easy to speak with on the phone and in person and returned all my phone calls promptly. If I had concerns regarding my son’s care, he addressed them right away. My son informed us that he felt like the social worker truly cared for him, and that he and the staff on unit 1B made him feel very secure. As you can imagine, knowing this as parents helps us through a difficult time. My son has been an inpatient at psychiatric hospitals before, and experience has shown us having a good social worker is so important.”
From Westwood Lodge: • “I felt compelled to write this letter to you. I just completed a six-day stay in Hillside House, and I thought it to be very important to tell you what a fabulous program you have there. It was remarkable, and you and all your staff need to be commended for all the wonderful work you all do. I can’t say enough about the program and have spread the word about Westwood Lodge to many including my own doctor ... Everyone [there] was so kind, caring and compassionate. I felt so comfortable immediately.”
From Pembroke Hospital: • “I think all the staff is amazing and I just want to thank them all because they helped me so much because they care a lot about me. I just want to thank them so much because they’re really amazing, all of them. Not one of them has been mean or anything, they’ve all been nice and I want to thank them. And I love them.” • “The staff member was very nice and helped me better understand my eating disorder. She helped me learn coping skills and ways to deal with difficult feelings. She took me on walks and was always available. I just want to thank her. And I also want to thank Sandy for spending time with me in regards to my medication.”
