Substance Abuse Treatment

The Structured Outpatient Addictions Program (SOAP) at Arbour Counseling Services, Malden provides a safe, therapeutic environment to facilitate positive growth and change in the lives of clients suffering with substance abuse and addictions.

Running Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the program aims to give participants a heightened level of self-awareness about their addiction, solid relapse prevention skills and a variety of coping skills to help them become more independent, self-caring, and functioning adults in recovery.

Program services include psychosocial evaluation, monitoring and treatment; behavioral assessment, treatment and recovery planning; group and individual counseling on substance abuse topics; aftercare and discharge planning and family therapy when necessary.

ACS-Malden has a staff that includes a physician specializing in substance recovery available to SOAP clients if needed as well as a nurse practitioner who specializes in addiction treatment.

Arbour-Fuller Hospital has a Dual Diagnosis Acute Residential Treatment Service (DDART), also known as Enhanced Acute Treatment Service (EATS), which provides substance detoxification services and medically monitored evaluation care and treatment for clients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse diagnoses. DDART's treatment program includes the therapeutic milieu, pharmacological services, group and individual counseling that is trauma-informed, relapse prevention and behavior management counseling, coping skills groups (distress tolerance, mood coping, frustration tolerance) and evening NA/AA meetings.
