She has over 15 years of experience working in the Mental Health field, with experience in outpatient level of care, long term residential and community-based services.

Shaka made the decision to pursue a career in the Mental Health field inspired by her own personal life experiences. She is passionate about helping at risk children, youth and keeping families intact. “All of our programs are near and dear to my heart. Providers in the CBHI world often say, ‘it takes a village to raise a child’. I could not agree more with that statement. At the age of 12, I immigrated to the U.S with limited resources and supports. Hard work and the support of others helped me be where I am today. The local Community Mental Health Center, my teachers, the local food pantry, the random social worker, the doctor’s office, the community church and the many others that extended a hand. I see my staff help clients in our community like this every day; providing them with the strength, support, care, guidance and opportunities to live their best life. I love the work I do and I love even more the work that I see all my direct care staff and Directors do daily!”
